The Gorge, directed by Scott Derrickson and penned by Zach Dean, plants itself firmly in the realm of apocalyptic cinema with an audacious twist. Made available to viewers on Apple TV+ on February 14, 2025, this film juxtaposes a tender romance with gripping survival horror. As the audience follows the journey of two elite snipers, Levi Kane and Drasa, played by the compelling Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, they are drawn into a narrative that challenges the boundaries of love, resilience, and existential uncertainty.

I began to wonder if I had inadvertently selected a dull guilty pleasure disguised as a serious exploration of societal themes as the film moved from one sleazy party scene to the next. What unfolded was, unfortunately, a mediocre experience filled with endless sexual encounters that overshadowed any glimmer of genuine storytelling.

Before diving into “Hit Man,” I was already intrigued by the premise — a blend of suspense, romance, and humor that promised an entertaining ride. Interestingly, I’m not usually drawn to romantic comedies, but I hit play primarily because of Glen Powell’s captivating presence and ability to elevate any film he graces and I was not left disappointed.

Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, "Focus" is a slick 2015 heist drama that combines elements of romance, con artistry, and deception, featuring a charismatic leading duo in Will Smith and Margot Robbie.
