To be honest, my expectations for "Rogue City", helmed by French filmmaker Olivier Marchal and released on Netflix in 2020 were perhaps unremarkable - a typical police drama, heavy on grit but light on depth, was what I foresaw. But within the film’s intricate maze of tragedy, violence, and corruption, I found a stunningly complex narrative and compelling performances from the likes of French cinema veterans Jean Reno and Lannick Gautry.

"Greyhound" emerges as possibly the best naval battle movie to date, expertly directed by Aaron Schneider and featuring a gripping performance by Tom Hanks, who also wrote the screenplay. Set within the harrowing landscape of World War II, the film draws viewers into the intense Battle of the Atlantic as it follows Commander Ernest Krause, tasked with protecting an Allied convoy from lurking U-boats.

"Legacy of Lies," starring the ever-charismatic Scott Adkins, attempts to serve up a plate of action fare that feels as if it was left out in the sun a bit too long.
